Pilot Logbooks

We have a small collection of aircrew logbooks, covering mainly experimental flying and details of test pilots work before they joined the RAE test pilot community. These form a very useful resource for those researching the history of test and operational flying.

Many of the logbooks in our collection are originals, but we are also grateful to those who have allowed us to microfilm or photocopy logbooks in their possession.

The Royal Aircraft Establishment’s flight logs, which record virtually every flight made at Farnborough between 1914 and 1954, are at the National Archives in class AVIA 1.
