Personal Papers
The archives contain the personal papers of a number of individuals involved with both the RAE and RAE-related aviation in general. These papers range from personal documents such as diaries, letters, photographs and memoirs, to operational records like log books, reports, files, training notebooks and other service documents.
Important figures from the history of the RAE and aviation are represented, such as Desmond King-Hele (polymath and space scientist), Townsend, Stan Hutton (an aerodynamicist who worked at Volkenrode at the end of WW2 running their windtunnels), Geoff Pope (Director RAE), George Bulman (Test Pilot), some George Miles papers and drawings and other papers from AA Griffiths, as well as those of less celebrated servicemen and women.
