The Photographic Collection overall contains negatives – glass and soft – taken at the Farnborough site from 1912, encompassing both the Royal Aircraft Factory and Royal Aircraft Establishment.

As well as the RAE Photo Registers, those of NGTE Pyestock are also available.  The negative store holds some 50,000 RAE images, and the Pyestock Collection holds another 46000 images. In addition, the Collection holds just under 2000 3×3 glass slides which were selected to be used, in general, for lectures and presentations, and therefore contain an important collation of experimental experience. Typical content is the research that went into the Bloodhound Project (Red Duster).
